If things have been a little haphazard around Snap and Scrap lately, you’ll soon understand why. At the end of July, we say goodbye to some members of the Snap and Scrap family. My partner, Mari Koegelenberg is ‘retiring’ as co-owner of the site, as she takes on a full-time position in the near future. Don’t despair, her gorgeous designs will still be available at The DigiChick. Designers Erica, Jeni, Kylie and Mel are also leaving us at the end of July and we say a sad farewell to them and the very best of luck for the future!
As for the rest of us….it’s business as usual. We thank you all for your loyal support and look forward to more of the same in the coming months. ~ Gillian

Morning ladies,

Wow, we have sure been hit by a cold spell this past week. I am sure I now have ice blocks running through my veins. LOL ! Amazingly enough, I still have lots of ladies attending Scrapping classes.. goes to show you that you can’t keep a good scrapper down !
.
With winter settling in around us here in the Southern Hemisphere, here are some “chilly” quotes to keep you warmed up (huh !)…
.
WINTER QUOTATIONS
.
I like these cold, gray winter days. Days like these let you savor a bad mood. ~Bill Watterson
Every mile is two in winter. ~George Herbert
“Hear! hear!” screamed the jay from a neighboring tree, where I had heard a tittering for some time, “winter has a concentrated and nutty kernel, if you know where to look for it.” ~Henry David Thoreau, 28 November 1858 journal entry
When the bold branches
Bid farewell to rainbow leaves -
Welcome wool sweaters.
~B. Cybrill
I was just thinking, if it is really religion with these nudist colonies, they sure must turn atheists in the wintertime. ~Will Rogers
Winter dies into the spring, to be born again in the autumn. ~Marche Blumenberg
Every winter,
When the great sun has turned his face away,
The earth goes down into a vale of grief,
And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables,
Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay -
Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses.
~Charles Kingsley
To shorten winter, borrow some money due in spring. ~W.J. Vogel<!– in Paul Dickson, comp., The Official Explanations, 1980–>
O, wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
~Percy Bysshe Shelley
Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.
~Bill Morgan, Jr.
Spring, summer, and fall fill us with hope; winter alone reminds us of the human condition. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotic’s Notebook, 1966
Winter either bites with its teeth or lashes with its tail. ~Proverb
Brew me a cup for a winter’s night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love and stir it with care,
And I’ll toast our bright eyes,
my sweetheart fair.
~Minna Thomas Antrim
Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories. ~From the movie An Affair to Remember
In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy. ~William Blake
Of winter’s lifeless world each tree
Now seems a perfect part;
Yet each one holds summer’s secret
Deep down within its heart.
~Charles G. Stater
Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. ~Edith Sitwell
Winter is the season in which people try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer, when they complained about the heat. ~Author Unknown
One kind word can warm three winter months. ~Japanese Proverb
Antisthenes says that in a certain faraway land the cold is so intense that words freeze as soon as they are uttered, and after some time then thaw and become audible, so that words spoken in winter go unheard until the next summer. ~Plutarch, Moralia

.
I just had to share this, my favorite winter joke with you:
.
The Indians asked their Chief in autumn if the winter was going to be cold or not. Not really knowing an answer, the chief replies that the winter was going to be cold and that the members of the village were to collect wood to be prepared.
Being a good leader, he then went to the next phone booth and called the National Weather Service and asked, “Is this winter to be cold?”
The man on the phone responded, “This winter is going to be quite cold indeed.”
So the Chief went back to speed up his people to collect even more wood to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again, “Is it going to be a very cold winter?”
“Yes”, the man replied, “it’s going to be a very cold winter.”
So the Chief goes back to his people and orders them to go and find every scrap of wood they can find. Two weeks later he calls the National Weather Service again: “Are you absolutely sure that the
winter is going to be very cold?”
“Absolutely,” the man replies, “the Indians are collecting wood like crazy!”
